Face recognition involves three steps: Face Detection, Feature Extraction and Matching. In the face detection process to identify the face area in face images, Viola-Jones algorithm has been used. Feature extraction is based on performing double-transformation, where discrete Tchebychev transform is performed on the geodesic distance transform of the grayscale image. Structural Similarity (SSIM) is applied to the resulting image double-transform to find matching factor with other image faces in the FEI (Brazilian) database. Performance is measured using a confidence criterion based on the similarity distance between the recognized person (best match) and the next possible ambiguity (second-best match). Simulation results showed that the proposed approach handles the face recognition efficiently as compared with SSIM.

Improving the quality of images synthesized by discrete cosines transform – regression based method using principle component analysis
Purpose: Different views of an individuals’ image may be required for proper face recognition. Recently, discrete cosines transform (DCT) based method has been used to synthesize virtual views of an image using only one frontal image. In this work the performance of two different algorithms was examined to produce virtual views of one frontal image. Materials and Methods: Two new meth...
متن کامل3D Face Recognition using Patch Geodesic Derivative Pattern
In this paper, a novel Patch Geodesic Derivative Pattern (PGDP) describing the texture map of a face through its shape data is proposed. Geodesic adjusted textures are encoded into derivative patterns for similarity measurement between two 3D images with different pose and expression variations. An extensive experimental investigation is conducted using the publicly available Bosphorus and BU-3...

MIAO, SHUN. 3D Face Recognition From Range Image. (Under the direction of Professor Hamid Krim). In this thesis, we explore the statistical and geometrical behavior of the uncontrolled parameters of a human face, including both the rigid transform caused by a head pose and the non-rigid transform caused by a facial expression. We focus on developing a 3D facial recognition scheme which is robus...

Automatic recognition of people faces is a challenging problem that has received significant attention from signal processing researchers in recent years. This is due to its several applications in different fields, including security and forensic analysis. Despite this attention, face recognition is still one among the most challenging problems. Up to this moment, there is no technique that pr...
